Yes one and all it's back once more. As I said at the end of the latest lesson, should you wish to ask anything at all, please post it here. I'll also be updating this thread whenever I post a new lesson, number 18 should be up shortly.
Toodles.

Ermmmm... the answer to that one is complicated, and involves certain things I'd rather not go into at this particular moment in time. So instead I shall simply be a helpful little fairy, completely unlike the spawn of satan that is Navi, dispensing what meagre advice I can to those who ask for it, and those who don't but I think really really could do with it.

You're going to have to edit all your lessons so they start with 'Hey! Listen!' now...
Damn I missed this, definitely looking forward to the next lesson!

Well, there is something I've been curious about personally; writing a commen sense character history. Does the marvelous and magical Taurdi have any good tips for the newcomers and veterans alike?

I must admit, TTCS is one of the nicer features about the site. Well rounded, like a good watermelon.

The new lesson, Lesson the Nineteenth: The Whole Damn World and More! is up, just scroll down to the bottom of the fourth post and it shall appear before your eyes as if by magic. As always questions/comments/criticism are welcome, and I would like to remind you that I can't write the lessons unless asked about something, so please bear that in mind before asking when the next lesson or anything else relating to TTCS will appear. Also remember that I'm working up towards 60 hours a week at the moment which means I'm a little pressed for time most days.
Anyway, enjoy one and all.

Anyway glad you enjoyed it Shiroby.

Ok, I have a scenario for you that has to do with a character concept and all boils down to a queston about Lesson the First: Mages and tent city
Now, I've been toying around in my mind with a character whose whole family except her brother was betrayed by her father when he started telling townsfolk that they were magic users. In some cases, he'd be telling the truth, in other cases he'd be lying, but in ALL cases he'd get a sick pleasure out of watching his family members burn at the stake my character's story would likely start there when her brother would escape with her and look after her to keep her from being the next one sacrificed by her evil dad.
In this scenariio could you see an exception to Lesson the first: Mages and tent city being made?
Hmmmmm.... Actually, while I'm here there are two more things on my mind:
1: Thinking back on my question, perhapsthere should be a common sense lesson on exceptions to common sense lessons, if that makes any sense.
2: Mind putting up an index somewhere of all the lessons covered so that finding a particular one could be relatively easy?

Are you asking if magic users would be accepted into tent city because they were chased out of their home or something else entirely?

surviver wrote: Are you asking if magic users would be accepted into tent city because they were chased out of their home or something else entirely? Something else entirely. I'm asking if since her history would involve a city hating mages as her home city, if it would be ok in those conditions to call tent city her home. In other words, the city she ran from would be tent city.

So she was effectively kicked out of Tent City because she was or was accused of being a mage?
More than acceptable.

Ermmm... they'd have to move very, very fast to get away. As in as soon as they realised they were a mage it'd heading for the hills time. The hobos of Tent City have devices and tech designed to detect magic and identify it after all. So the premise you're using of one member of the family calling others mages wouldn't work, since they'd just scan them and those that weren't a mage would be identified as such. It'd be better if you just used an unamed little village somewhere, or name it.
